Sefindo: in the Zulu language, means knot.
This was inspired by a very special client who just happens to be South African.
She and her partner are music enthusiasts, of the best variety. They seem to know all the boutique bands that play in all the boutique venues. She wanted a bag to take to these events. Something small, secure and built to fit a wallet, phone, keys and makeup bag. Ideally, it would sling over her forearm so she could be hands free. We brainstormed some ideas and then I was given creative freedom to come up with the design.
When it was complete, I didn’t know what to name it. I decided to wait until she saw it finished and see what she thought.
She said, “Sefindo”. I had no idea what that word meant, and then she told me it was Zulu, for knot. How perfect.
I couldn’t have been more delighted.
